CHINESE CRESTED DOG(Approved by the A.N.K.C. in 1981 as an Interim Standard until such time as a Standard is adopted by the Kennel Club of England.)

General Appearance -- A small, active and graceful dog; medium to fine boned; smooth hairless body, with hair on feet, head and tail only.

Head and Skull -- Skull slightly rounded, moderate stop; fairly long muzzle; cheeks lean; head carried high. Crest flat, high or long flowing; full crest preferred; sparse crest acceptable.

Eyes -- Medium size, moderately dark in colour, round and set wide apart.

Ears -- Large upstanding ears, with or without ear fringe.

Teeth -- Pincer or scissor bite. Prominent canines, absence of premolars should not be penalised.

Neck -- Long, slightly arched. Sloping gracefully to shoulders.

Forequarters -- Straight, medium to fine boned. Furnishings not to extend above knee on foreleg.

Body -- Should be medium to long. Level back. Rump slightly rounded. Chest deep and fairly broad. Belly moderately tucked up. Skin smooth and soft.

Hindquarters -- Hocks well let down. Furnishings not to extend above hock on hind leg.

Tail -- Carried over back or looped, never curled. Plume on last two-thirds of tail. Full plume preferred. Sparse plume on tail acceptable.

Colour -- Any colour, plain or spotted.

Weight -- Weight may vary between 3.2 to 5.4 kg (7-12 Ibs) but overall balance is the essential requirement.

Faults -- Any departure from the foregoing points should be considered a fault and the seriousness of the fault should be in exact proportion to its degree.

Note: -- Male animals should have two apparently normal testicles fully descended into the scrotum.
