The Chinese Crested Dog Club of NSW started as a Social Club in 1993 with a dedicated band of Chinese Crested Dog enthusiasts. In 1994, Affiliation with the Royal New South Wales Canine Council Ltd (now trading as Dogs NSW) was granted and with minor variations can be viewed at Dogs NSW Regulations for Affiliates .  Club objectives include education of both the public and dog judges and exhibitors as well as promoting the breed. The Club has been involved in various TV segments and, in conjunction with the Chinese Crested Dog Club  Of Victoria Inc., produced an Extended Breed Standard (now available from State Canine Control bodies), after ANKC approval in June 2006.

The first Championship Specialty show was held on 17th December 1994 with an entry of 82 exhibits.
